I am a professor in curriculum and instruction, and my emphasis area is science education. I also have a background in public health nutrition. Long-standing research and teaching interests of mine include science-mathematics integration and concept mapping. More recently, I have become engaged in the development of school gardens and the provision of garden-based learning at the elementary school level. I am especially interested in school-university-community partnerships that seek to diversify the school grounds through establishing gardens and provide garden-based learning opportunities for youth.
